Vietnamese as a second Language 2 (VSL2) is the second book in a series of 6 that has been compiled and edited by a group of lectures from the faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language Program for Foreigners, of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City. It is estimated that this book can be mastered in about 100 class hours.

Since its publication in 1998, Elementary Vietnamese has become the leading book for anyone wishing to learn Vietnamese, and an invaluable resource for people traveling, studying or working in Vietnam. This beginner Vietnamese book was originally developed for classroom use at Harvard University, where it has been field-tested for many years.

This book is written for foreigners studying Vietnamese not only in Vietnam but also in other countries and for those who want to study by themselves. The author`s experience in teaching Vietnamese to foreigners in Vietnam and also learners overseas has shown that if a textbook is too difficult and complicated, learners find it difficult to digest.
